10/20/2006 - ACR’S AMA Delegation to Meet in November
Led by Board of Chancellors Chair Arl Van Moore, Jr, MD, the ACR’s delegation to the American Medical Association’s House of Delegates will convene at the AMA’s Interim meeting in Las Vegas, Nev., November 11-14, 2006.
Some of the resolutions and reports being considered by the delegation and the Section Council for the upcoming meeting address issues such as:
• Conflicts of interest
• Medical devices and equipment
• Group practice formation
• Pay for performance
• Scope of practice
Prior to the meeting, the delegation will work with ACR staff members Bill Shields, Jan Cox, and Josh Cooper to prepare a “Radiology Agenda” which will identify reports and resolutions being considered by the House of Delegates that might affect radiology, radiation oncology, or interventional radiology, and will determine the College’s position on such items.
The ACR leadership and staff will work closely with other hospital based specialties at the AMA meeting to discuss common areas of concern. In addition to the ACR, members of the Hospital Based Physician Alliance are the American College of Emergency Physicians, the American Society of Anesthesiologists, and the College of American Pathologists.
The ACR delegation is an integral part of the AMA Section Council on Radiology. Section Council officers are: John D. Fulco, MD, chair; R. Eugene Cordell, MD, first vice chair; David Holley, MD, second vice chair; Andrew Litt, MD, secretary; and Peggy Fritzsche, MD, treasurer.
