Responses to the Question about Fees Paid to Speakers at Chapter Meetings

Many thanks to those of you who responded to the question posed in the last issue of this newsletter.  The president of the Colorado Radiological Society wanted to know how much money other chapters pay to have speakers for meetings.

2004 AMCLC Update

ACR leadership and staff seem to always be planning for the next ACR Annual Meeting and Chapter Leadership Conference.  In the next few months leading up to the May meeting, chapter leaders will become more involved in the preparations.  Beginning now, and through the start of the meeting on May 8, this newsletter will feature an AMCLC Information Box (see below).  This box will contain information about upcoming deadlines affecting chapter leaders and links to information posted on the ACR Web site. 

The College plans to post a preliminary meeting schedule on the ACR Web site in the very near future. 

As you look at the information box today you will notice there are several deadlines to meet prior to Feb.  If you have any questions about these deadlines or about the AMCLC, please contact staff in the ACR Office of Council and Chapter Services at either chapters@acr.org or 800.401.1438.

How Your Chapter Can Help Develop Future ACR and Chapter Leaders

You can help develop future ACR and chapter leaders by sponsoring one or more residents to attend the 2004 RPS meeting, held in conjunction with the ACR Annual Meeting and Chapter Leadership Conference.  CLICK HERE for more details about the RPS meeting and how to sponsor members in-training.  The deadline for notifying the ACR of sponsored members in-training is Jan. 31, 2004.

Below is some information you may want to include in upcoming communications to your members.

Just Four Weeks Left to Pre-Register

ACR Professional Bureau’s On-Site Interview Service at this year’s RSNA annual meeting starts in just four weeks on November 30.  If you have not already signed-up to participate, you should do so now so you have time to search the listings and schedule interviews before the start of the meeting.  Avoid the hassle of having to spend too much time on the computer during the meeting, though you will need to check your account for new messages.  Have the majority of your interview schedule pre-planned so you can schedule other activities as well.  And please pass the word along to your fellow chapter members so they, too, can benefit from this valuable service.  Interviews will take place Nov. 30 – Dec. 4 in Room S102A in McCormick Place.

2004 ACR Annual Meeting and Chapter Leadership Conference

Upcoming Deadlines and Milestones:

·         Dec. 31, 2003 – Deadline for making nominations for ACR elections.  This includes nominating members in-training for the chance to vie for the opportunity to attend the 2004 Intersociety Summer Conference.

·         Dec. 31, 2003 – Deadline for making submission for consideration for the 2003 Chapter Recognition Awards.  CLICK HERE for more details.  CLICK HERE for FAQ’s about sponsoring residents.

·         Jan. 2004 – AMCLC brochure and registration information to be posted on the ACR Web site.  Chapter officers, councilors and alternates will also receive this information in the mail.

·         Jan. 31, 2004 – Deadline for verifying your chapter’s roster of councilors and alternate councilors with the ACR Office of Council and Chapter Services for publication in the meeting agenda book.

·         Jan. 31, 2004 – Deadline for chapters to name residents to attend the Resident Physician Section Meeting.  CLICK HERE for more details.

·         Feb. 1, 2004 – Deadline for submitting resolutions to the ACR.

·         March 2004 – Resolutions available on the ACR Web site.  CD-ROMs with resolutions to be sent to chapter officers, councilors and alternates.

·         May 1, 2004 – Deadline for submitting ACR Fellowship nominations for the 2005 Convocation.
