What is the ACR Chapter Executive Update?

Spring is officer changing season for many ACR chapters, making this a good time to welcome new readers.  The ACR Chapter Executive Update is a bi-monthly, electronic publication for chapter officers and chapter administrators.  It is a timely way to share information about ACR events and deadlines.  It is also a venue to share information about chapter activities.  Your comments and suggestions are always welcome.

ACR Chapter Executive Director/Secretary Meeting Report

There was a strong turnout for the ACR Chapter Executive Director/Secretary meeting held on 10 May in conjunction with the ACR Annual Meeting and Chapter Leadership Conference.  We will publish notes from this meeting in the next few weeks so everyone can benefit from the knowledge shared during this session.

If you attended this meeting, please consider sharing your impressions about this meeting or ideas for future meetings.  You may do this by contacting Kelly Foster at either kellyf@acr.org or 800.227.5463, ext. 4917.

Welcome to New Chapter Relations Staff

The staff in the ACR Office of Council and Chapter Services are very pleased to welcome Merry-Lynn Sheetz to our team.  Merry-Lynn has five years of experience working with the College.  She is a true asset to this office and is here to assist you in your work as an ACR chapter leader.

You may contact Merry-Lynn at either merrylynns@acr.org or 800.227.5463, ext. 4353.

Time to Review Councilor/Alternate Rosters

In keeping with ACR bylaws, all councilors and alternate councilors with terms expiring this year will end on 31 May 2003.  The Office of Council and Chapter Services recently sent out a memo via email to chapter presidents, secretaries or secretary/treasurers and executive staff asking chapters to review their rosters.  Ideally, we would like to have all updated information by 31 July 2003.  If your chapter will not have elected new councilors and alternates by this date, please let us know.

You may submit councilor and alternate councilor rosters in writing either via email (chapters@acr.org), via post (see mailing address above) or via fax (703.262.9319).

Collecting Feedback from Congressional Visits

Collecting feedback from the Congressional visits ACR members made last week is a very important part of maintaining an effective government relations program.  Please help us collect this information by encouraging your members who made Congressional visits to return a Congressional Response Form.  An electronic copy of this form is attached to this email.  If you have difficulty viewing the attachment, please contact the Office of Council and Chapter Services at either chapters@acr.org of 800.227.5643, ext. 4353 to request a fax copy.

As you may recall, each chapter earns $200 for every chapter member who made a Congressional visit and returns a Congressional Response Form to the ACR.  You will receive more information in the near future about the distribution of these funds as well as the funding for a CAC member to attend the meeting.

Internship Opportunities for Residents at the ACR

The J.T. Rutherford Government Relations and James M. Moorefield Economics internships are unique opportunities for residents to learn about the political and economic work of the ACR and it’s chapters.  Resident interns receive financial support to come to the ACR office in Reston to work with ACR staff and learn about the impact socioeconomic issues have on the profession of radiology.

If you know a resident who would be interested in gaining a broader perspective on the profession, please encourage him or her to apply for either of these internships.  More information is available in the resident section of the ACR Web site, under educational information.  CLICK HERE for a direct link.
