2003 ACR Executive Director/Secretary Meeting

When – Sun., 11 May 2003 from 12:00 noon – 1:15pm

Where – Hilton Washington and Towers, Washington, D.C.

Contact Person – Trina Madison, 800.227.5463, 4998

This year’s meeting includes the opportunity to meet with staff of the ACR Office of Council and Chapter Services and learn about the new ACR Chapter Recognition Program, an award program aimed at acknowledging exemplary chapter activities.

If your chapter does not have an Executive Director/Secretary please consider sending another chapter leader to attend this meeting.

Looking for a Speaker for Your Chapter’s Meeting?

This year almost half the ACR chapters plan to include an ACR speaker as part of their meeting program.  Based on survey data collected from previous chapter surveys, many chapters feel this adds value to their overall meeting.  The ACR provides these speakers as part of the Chapter Visitation Program.  If your chapter is planning an upcoming meeting, you may consider including an ACR speaker as part of your program.  For further details or to request a speaker, please contact Trina Madison at either trinam@acr.org or 800.227.5463, ext. 4998.

Can the ACR Provide Data About Residents in My Area?

Absolutely.  Each year the ACR engages in an effort to collect data on diagnostic radiology and radiation oncology residents throughout the U.S. and in Canada.  This project begins every June when the College communicates with each approved training program for the names and contact information about the program’s residents and fellows.  This information goes into the ACR membership database.  Each year the ACR succeeds in collecting information from about 97% of the residency programs.

For more information about how the ACR collects this information, contact Lynn Anderson at 800.227.5463, ext. 4792 or lynna@acr.org.

Are Residents Members of My Chapter?

In most cases, yes.  But, only if your chapter has elected to include residents and student fellows as automatic members of your chapter.  Rosters are sent to each chapter at least twice a year. Two types of rosters are sent:  (1) All Chapter Members and (2)  Prospective Members.  Residents will always be listed on the Prospective Members list, regardless of whether or not your chapter considers them to be automatic members of your chapter.  The chapter is assigned to members-in-training according to the location of their training program.  Once their training ends, the member-in-training is sent information about how to officially join an ACR chapter as a dues-paying member.

For more information on how to utilize the information contained in the chapter rosters you receive, or to receive a new roster, contact Barbara Quattrone at 800.227.5463, ext. 4907, or barbaraq@acr.org.

The Texas Radiological Society Prepares for Capitol Hill Visits

The TRS recently sent an email to all councilors and alternate councilors to help them prepare for making Congressional visits when they come to Washington in May.  Specifically the TRS leadership hoped to clarify the process Soapbox will use to make the appointments and the time frame in which participants should plan to be available to make their appointments.  Attached is a copy of this email.
