AMCLC Information on the ACR Web Site

2005 Chapter Leaders' Workshop

The Office of Council and Chapter Services is pleased to invite you to the Chapter Leaders' Workshop to be held from 1:00 pm–4:30 pm on Saturday, April 9, during the 2005 AMCLC.

The workshop will provide an opportunity for chapter leaders to learn more about what their peers in other chapters are doing in the areas of meetings, leadership development and chapter organization, communications, and government relations. ACR staff will be on hand to answer questions and provide information on various College resources and programs. This meeting has been approved for 3.5 AMA/PRA Category 1 CME credits.

We also invite you to attend a Chapter Leaders' Breakfast on Monday, April 11 from 7:00 am– 8:10 am. The featured speaker will be Ariel Gonzalez, state legislative specialist in the ACR government relations department.

Planning Caucus Meetings for the 2005 AMCLC

It is time to plan for your caucus meeting at the 2005 ACR AMCLC. Caucuses should be scheduled on Sunday between 7:00 am and 1:00 pm according to the preliminary program. The opening session of the Council will convene on Sunday at 1:00 pm Reference Committee reports will be available at breakfast on Wednesday and reports will be presented on Wednesday afternoon starting at 2:45 pm.

All requests for Caucus meetings must be submitted in writing no later than Tuesday, February 1. Please use the 2005 Caucus Meeting Request form to schedule your caucus meeting time. Fax your request directly to Pamela Mechler, ACR director of meeting services, at (703) 716-4487. In addition, Paul H. Ellenbogen, MD, speaker of the council, has appointed Council Steering Committee members to serve as liaisons to the caucuses. The liaison will be in attendance during the caucus to serve as a resource.

January 18 Deadline for Verifying Rosters of Councilors and Alternate Councilors

This week chapter executives or secretaries or secretary/treasurers and presidents received via email a memo from Merry-Lynn Sheetz in the ACR Office of Council and Chapter Services asking for verification councilor and alternate councilor rosters. It is important to verify these rosters prior to the AMCLC to ensure all councilors and alternates receive AMCLC meeting materials and to ensure that the appropriate people receive councilor or alternate credentials at the meeting. The deadline for verifying these rosters is January 18, 2005. For more information, please contact Merry-Lynn Sheetz at either merrylynns@acr.org or (800) 227-5463, ext 4496.

Update on Chapter Recognition Awards for 2004

The deadline to make submissions for the 2004 Chapter Recognition Awards was December 31. Council and Chapter Services staff is working to complete data entry and will be meeting with the program judges in the next few weeks to select winners. Winning chapters will be notified in February and will need to select a representative to accept their award on Wednesday, April 13 during the ACR Annual Meeting and Chapter Leadership Conference.

Participating in the Chapter Recognition Award Program in 2005

January 1 marked the beginning of the 2005 award year. Chapters can make submissions for chapter activities from now until December 31, 2005 for awards to be presented during the 2006 AMCLC. Click here for more information about the chapter recognition program.

An Opportunity to Earn Points!

Recently letters were mailed out to chapter leaders to encourage them to complete the ACR Chapter Membership Goals Statement. Completing this form by March 1 earns your chapter 10 points. Subsequent points can be earned by completing an update form to let us know of your progress in reaching the goal; additional points are awarded for meeting the goal by either 50% or 100%.
