ACR Chapter Handbook – New, Improved and Available on the ACR Web site
The ACR Chapter Handbook has been revised and is now available on the ACR Web site for chapter leaders to access (Reminder: You will need your ACR username and password.). The handbook includes practical information on various aspects of chapter management, as well as details on key resources available to chapters through the ACR.
The handbook is designed in a Web-based version to provide leaders with easy access to this material. Our goal is to provide our chapters with a “living” document that can be updated in a timely manner to ensure that you have ready access to the most up-to-date information.
Please visit the Chapter Section of the ACR Web site today and review the new and improved ACR Chapter Handbook. Sections of the Handbook will be highlighted in future editions of the Chapter Executive Update so that you can learn more about this valuable resource.
If you have any questions or comments about the ACR Chapter Handbook, please contact Trina Zeberlein at tzeberlein@acr.org or (800) 227-5463, ext 4998.
2007 Chapter Leaders’ Workshop
The Office of Chapter and Volunteer Development is pleased to invite you to the Chapter Leaders' Workshop to be held from 1:00 – 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, during the 2007 AMCLC.
The workshop will provide an excellent opportunity for chapter leaders to interact with their peers from other chapters and learn more about issues of importance for chapter administration. Topics to be addressed during the meeting include membership recruitment, volunteer and leadership development, and resident involvement. In addition, members of the ACR’s leadership and staff will attend to answer questions and provide information on various College resources and programs.
We also invite you to attend a Chapter Leaders’ Breakfast on Monday, May 21, from 7:00 – 8:15 a.m. Ted Burnes, director of RADPAC and political education, will present information on RADPAC and the ACR’s grassroots program.
Click here to RSVP for either of these events.
For more information visit the ACR Web Site or contact Trina Zeberlein at either tzeberlein@acr.org or (800) 227-5463, ext. 4998.
Process for Making Councilor Substitutions for the AMCLC
As in previous years, chapters may substitute alternate councilors for councilors who will not participate in either all or part of the council meetings.
If you know of any substitutions prior to the meeting, please notify staff in the ACR Office of Chapter and Volunteer Development so the substitutions can be officially recorded before the meeting. Written notification must be submitted by May 15 and must include the following information:
- Name of the chapter president, secretary, executive secretary, or director submitting the substitution notification
- Name of the alternate councilor
- Name of the councilor the alternate is replacing
- Indication if the substitution is for the entire meeting or if it is only for specific council sessions
Click here to access the Councilor Substitution Authorization Form.
You may submit substitution notifications using the following methods:
- E-mail: chapters@acr.org
- Fax: (703) 262-9319
- Mail: ACR Office of Chapter and Volunteer Development, 1891 Preston White Dr., Reston, VA 20191
If you have any questions about this process, please contact Trina Zeberlein at tzeberlein@acr.org or (800) 227-5463, ext 4998.
The Credentials Committee will handle substitutions made at the meeting site. Please be aware that the committee will not approve any new requests for substitutions for voting on the morning of Monday, May 21. Individuals who are substituting for councilors and who are not officially listed with the Credentials Committee by 3:30 p.m. Sunday, May 20, will not be allowed to vote in the Monday elections but will be recognized for later Council activities. Substitutions for later Council activities will be accepted again beginning at 1:00 p.m. Monday.

Second invoice notices have been mailed to members who have not paid their 2007 membership dues. Please contact ACR Membership Services at (800) 347-7748 if you have any questions.
New Update of ACR Appropriateness Criteria®
The ACR has released the latest updates to the ACR Appropriateness Criteria® — evidence-based guidelines to help physicians and other providers make the most appropriate imaging or treatment decision for a given clinical condition. There are more than 160 topics that address cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, neurologic, thoracic, urologic, pediatric, and women’s imaging, plus interventional radiology and radiation oncology. Nearly all of the 160 topics have been reviewed and updated since 2005.
The ACR Appropriateness Criteria are available on the ACR Web site.
A PDA version, compatible with Palm and Pocket PC platforms, is also available to ACR members for a $15 annual subscription fee. Discounts are available for group purchases. For more information, please contact the ACR Quality & Safety Department at (800) 227-5463, ext. 4590, or send an e-mail to acr_ac@acr.org.
Complete a Demographics Survey and Qualify to Win an Apple Video iPod
Please share this information with your members in any upcoming chapter communication.
A brief ACR Demographics Survey is included with the 2007 dues invoices, which, when returned, qualifies members to win one of several Apple video iPods.
The ACR is collecting demographic information in an effort to make members’ College experience a unique and rewarding one. The survey collects information on members and their practice environment and uses it to represent the broader interests of the profession, while better understanding the ever-evolving practice of radiology.
You can return the survey by mail using the yellow reply envelope enclosed with the invoice or fax it to (703) 264-2093. If you did not receive a survey with your invoice, please call (800) 347-7748 to request a copy.
