JACR Seeks Authors for “ACR Chapters Column”

Chapter members have an opportunity to highlight chapter activities and initiatives in the Journal of the ACR.  Articles should detail significant chapter activities geared to advancing the specialty of radiology.  These may include reports on advocacy days, scholarships and other support given to encourage the training of technicians, or reports on efforts made to improve the quality of patient care.

The goal is to inform ACR members on important initiatives, including those that they may model in their own chapters.  Manuscripts should be 3-9 double-spaced typed pages in length. For directions on preparing and submitting manuscripts, go to www.jacr.org.

Final Review: Councilor and Alternate Councilor Rosters

This week chapter officers and executive staff will receive via email a final roster of councilors and alternate councilors.  This is the last opportunity to review this list before it is published in the ACR Council agenda materials.  In addition to publishing this list as an informational resource, the ACR uses this list to credential councilors and alternate councilors during the meeting.

The deadline for reviewing this list and reporting necessary correction is Fri., Feb. 20, 2003.  Please contact Merry-Lynn Sheetz at merrylynns@acr.org or 800.227.5463, ext. 4353 with questions or changes.

Technology Tip – Using Web-Based Surveys to Assess Member Needs

Surveys are good tools for collecting data about your members. Recently the ACR has used web-based surveys to help minimize the cost of distributing a survey tool in hardcopy and to minimize the time spent on data entry and analysis.  Some surveys have been developed in-house with the help of a web application programmer.  We have also found an external service that has proved successful and is very accessible to you.

Those of you who participated in the ACR Fellowship survey last month, experienced our use of SurveyMonkey.com.  This service provides a platform for creating surveys, distributing them (via email) and analyzing collected responses.  It has both a free and a subscriber component.  Using this tool we were quickly able to distribute the survey and analyze the results.

You can learn more about this tool at www.surveymonkey.com.  This is just a tool the ACR has used.  The ACR does not endorse this particular service.  There are other similar tools available.  A web search using “survey tools” brings up other options.
