Let’s Try Something New to Help One Another |

Recently staff in the ACR Office of Council and Chapter Services received requests from two chapters for assistance in collecting information from other chapters. We want to help facilitate ACR chapters learning from one another. Beginning with this issue, we will from time to time include questions asking for your response. We will then publish the collected data and share it with other ACR chapter leaders. Please see below for this week’s question from the Connecticut Radiological Society. Are you curious about how other chapters are doing things? Forward your questions to chapters@acr.org. |

Now is the Time to Review Draft ACR Practice
Guidelines and Technical Standards for the 2004 AMCLC |
|
|
|
|
It is now more important then ever for you and your
chapter members to participate in the review and comment process of draft ACR
Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards.
In passing a resolution during the 2003 ACR Annual Meeting and
Leadership Conference, the Council believes the place to propose changes to
ACR Practice Guidelines and Standards is in this review process and not
during the Council meeting.
Therefore, it is imperative that you and your chapter members
participate in the review process over the next few months. Please read below for more details about
how to participate in this process. ACR Members can review and comment on the Practice
Guidelines and Technical Standards on the ACR Web site. These drafts will be presented for
adoption at the 2004 Annual Meeting and Chapter Leadership Conference. The field review process started in August
and will continue through November. Each
month, four to six drafts will be posted on the ACR Web site for member
review. When the last drafts are
posted in October/November, ACR members will have had the opportunity to
comment on all the drafts. Titles of
the drafts that will be submitted for renewal, but are not going through the
field review process, also will be posted on the ACR Web site. How to Review the Draft ACR Practice Guidelines and
Technical Standards ·
Go to the ACR Web site (www.acr.org) ·
Double-click on the “Members Only” icon on the
front page. ·
On the next page click on the “Draft Practice
Guidelines and Technical Standards for Review and Comment” icon on the
left-hand side of the page. ·
You will need to provide your ACR username and
password in order to access the documents. Contact ACR Membership at either membership@acr.org or 800.347.7748 if
you do not have this information. Members with questions or suggestions for additional
revisions on those documents can e-mail standards@acr.org. |

News From the Chapters Texas Works with Other Chapters to Review Meeting
Logistics |

Recently Renita Fonseca, executive director of the Texas
Radiological Society, contacted several other ACR chapters and asked them to
provide information about their annual meetings. The purpose of the survey was to help the TRS leadership as
they consider making changes to their annual meeting. Renita noted, “It’s nice to do this type of thing to get ideas on
what others do, so you don’t have to reinvent the wheel each time you want to
do something new or different.” The TRS
contacted several ACR chapters who are similar in membership size via email
and asked respondents to provide information about meeting attendance, costs,
revenue, events associated with the meeting, etc. Afterwards, all respondents received a compilation of the
collected information. The TRS leadership
will review and discuss the information at an upcoming meeting. |
