ACR Responds to Hurricane Katrina and Provides a Forum for Assisting those Affected
On September 7, the ACR established a Web page, www.acr.org/relief/, to provide current updates on Hurricane Katrina and allow information to be shared with ACR staff who have been monitoring the crisis. This week the ACR created a discussion forum to help facilitate communication among those affected by this disaster. Please visit the forum if you would like to post information about assistance you are willing to offer to those in the affected region or to view communications from individuals seeking assistance.
Call for Assistance from Residency Program in Louisiana
As a result of flooding from Hurricane Katrina, the radiology library at the LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans has been completely destroyed. The residents in the program are now in need of textbooks and have put out a call for assistance from the radiology community. The ACR has responded to this call for help and would like to make chapters aware of this opportunity to directly assist those affected by Hurricane Katrina. For more information you can view the posting from the LSU chief resident on the Hurricane Discussion Forum.
There are three other accredited residency programs in the affected region and the ACR staff is currently in the process of contacting them to assess their immediate needs. We may be in contact in the coming days and weeks to make you aware of additional opportunities to reach out to your colleagues.
A New Look for the ACR
The American College of Radiology is pleased to introduce a new logo. Our former logo, the one that appeared for over 20 years on our stationery, publications, and our Web site, has been updated to reflect a new and modern look for the ACR that positions the College with an eye toward the future. Please visit the ACR Web site for more information and to view the new logo.
In the coming months you will see the new logo phased into all ACR materials. Please use the new logo on your Web site, letterhead, or other publications. To obtain an electronic copy of the logo contact Trina Zeberlein at tzeberlein@acr.org.
