RADPAC Offers New Resources to Chapters

RADPAC is pleased to announce two new Web-based resources for chapters interested in engaging in political activity.

The first resource is a RADPAC presentation for chapters. The presentation includes background and statistical information on RADPAC and can be used to educate your membership. The presentation also focuses on why it's important to contribute to RADPAC and how contributions are used to make a difference.

The second resource is for those chapters that may be interested in creating a state political action committee. This resource includes a listing of state board of election Web sites; it is through your state's board of election that you can find the regulations and requirements for starting a PAC. In addition, this resource provides practical tips for creating a PAC and raising money.

Both of these resources are available online at www.radpac.org. For more information please contact Ted Burnes at tedb@acr.org, Heather Kaiser at heatherk@acr.org, or call (888) 295-8843.

ACR to Begin Annual Collection of Member-in-Training Information

As a service to chapters and to support their efforts to work with members in training, the ACR annually collects and shares the names of residents and fellows in training programs across the country. This month, staff in the ACR Membership Services Department will begin contacting all residency and fellowship training programs for diagnostic radiology and radiation oncology to collect current information about people who are in training. Typically, 98% of all programs contacted respond to the request for information. The ACR uses data collected from training programs to maintain and create membership records for members in training. Chapters also have access to this information through membership rosters routinely sent during the year by the ACR and by making specific requests any time for a roster of members in training. Keep in mind that because of the time it takes for training programs to respond to the request and the volume of data ACR staff have to enter, it will take several months before rosters of residents and fellows are updated to accurately reflect the 2005-2006 training year. If you have questions about information regarding members in training in your chapter, please contact Barbara Quattrone at barbaraq@acr.org or (800) 347-7748.

Tips for Earning Points Toward a 2005 Chapter Recognition Award

Has your chapter recently held a meeting? Are you communicating regularly with your members through a listserv, newsletter, or chapter Web site? Have you participated in a recent state legislative effort in your state? Has your chapter undertaken efforts to recruit or retain chapter members? If you can answer "yes" to any of the above questions, then your chapter could be earning points towards a chapter recognition award.

Now through the end of December 2005, chapters can make submissions for consideration for 2005 chapter recognition awards. Awards are given in 4 categories to recognize chapter activities in communications, government relations, membership, and meetings and education. Award criteria and submission forms are available on the ACR Web site. If you have questions about the chapter recognition program, please contact Trina Zeberlein at tzeberlein@acr.org or (800) 227-5463, ext 4998.
