What is the ACR Chapter Executive Update?
Welcome new chapter officers!
Spring is officer-changing season for many ACR chapters, making this a good time to welcome new readers. The ACR Chapter Executive Update is a bimonthly, electronic publication for chapter officers and administrators. It is a timely way to share information about ACR events and deadlines. It is also a venue to share information about chapter activities. Your comments and suggestions are always welcome.
Deadline Extended for Fellowship Nominations
The deadline for chapters to submit fellowship nominations for the 2006 convocation has been extended to May 15, 2005. Please send an email to Jim Morrison at jimm@acr.org if you plan to submit nominations after the original May 1 deadline.
For more information on ACR fellowship visit the ACR Web site or direct questions to JP Baird at either jpaulb@acr.org or (800) 227-5463, ext. 4682.
Help Continue Work Begun on Capitol Hill
Over 400 ACR members made visits to Capitol Hill last week in conjunction with the AMCLC. In order for the ACR Government Relations Department to follow up with congressional offices, please encourage your members to complete and submit a congressional response form for each meeting they attended. Forms can be faxed to Joshua Cooper at: (703) 262-9312. Click here for an electronic copy of the form.
Chapter Recognition Awards Presented at AMCLC
The 2004 Chapter Recognition Awards were presented last week during the AMCLC. Fourteen chapters were recognized for their achievement in 4 distinct categories. Each chapter received a certificate of excellence in recognition of their achievement; the chatpers' names have been added to special plaques at the ACR headquarters in Reston, Va. Visit the ACR Web site for a complete list of winners.
Chapters can make submissions for the 2005 Chapter Recognition Awards, to be presented at next year's AMCLC, through December 31, 2005. Award criteria and submission forms are available on the ACR Web site. By the end of May, chapters will receive a report from the ACR office of chapter and volunteer development on the number of points earned. If you have questions about the chapter recognition program, please contact Trina Madison at trinam@acr.org or (800) 227-5463, ext. 4998.
2005 Chapter Leaders' Workshop a Huge Success
The 2005 Chapter Leaders' Workshop took place April 9 during the AMCLC in Washington DC. The workshop began with an introductory presentation on chapter structure and function by N. Reed Dunnick, MD. Also on hand for the workshop were 10 content leaders representing 9 chapters, as well as various members of the ACR staff. The content leaders presented case studies and lead roundtable discussions on areas of interest to chapter leaders including chapter communications, meetings, government relations, membership, and resident involvement. The workshop was attended by more than 45 chapter officers and executives.
Visit the ACR Web site for copies of the case studies presented at the workshop.
