New Feature - Question of the Week
In an effort to help ACR chapters learn from each other, we are beginning a new feature in the Chapter Executive Update (CEU) called Question of the Week. Starting with this issue, we will include a question in each CEU asking for your response. We will then publish the collected data and share it with other ACR chapter leaders. The questions may come from other chapters or from ACR staff. If you are curious about how other chapters are doing things, forward your question to chapters@acr.org.
Please see below for this week's question from the Georgia Radiological Society:
- Does your chapter reimburse councilors to attend the ACR annual meeting?
Please click here to submit your response by Friday, May 4, if possible. We will publish the collected data in the May 10 CEU.
ACR Fellowship Nominations Due May 1
The deadline for chapters to submit fellowship nominations is May 1. Nominations received by this date will be considered for awards to be presented at the 2008 annual meeting.
If your chapter has nominations forthcoming, please notify J.P. Baird at jpbaird@acr.org. Fellowship information can be found on the ACR Web site. If you have any questions, please contact J.P. via e-mail or phone at (800) 347-7748.
AMCLC Resolutions Available on the ACR Web Site
The contents of the AMCLC Agenda CD-ROM are now available on the ACR Web site; this includes all of the resolutions to be voted on during the Council meeting, as well as the meeting's preliminary program. A printed copy of the resolutions will be available for attendees to pick up on-site in Washington, D.C.
Please refer to www.acr.org/07meeting for the additional meeting information.
RSVP for the Chapter Leaders' Workshop and Breakfast
The Office of Chapter and Volunteer Development is pleased to invite you to the Chapter Leaders' Workshop to be held from 1p.m. - 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, during the AMCLC 2007.
The workshop will provide an excellent opportunity for chapter leaders to interact with their peers from other chapters and learn more about issues of importance for chapter administration. Topics to be addressed during the meeting include membership recruitment, volunteer and leadership development, and resident involvement. In addition, members of the ACR's leadership and staff will attend to answer questions and provide information on various College resources and programs. Click here to view the workshop agenda.
We also invite you to attend a Chapter Leaders' Breakfast on Monday, May 21, from 7a.m. - 8:15 a.m. Ted Burnes, director of RADPAC® and political education, will present information on RADPAC and the ACR's grassroots program.
Click here to RSVP for either of these events.
For more information, visit the ACR Web Site or contact Trina Zeberlein at either tzeberlein@acr.org or (800) 227-5463, ext. 4998.
ACRA™ Capitol Hill Day is Four Weeks Away - Make Sure Your Chapter Participates
The ACRA™ Capitol Hill Day is scheduled for Wednesday, May 23.
If you are going to Capitol Hill, you will have to make your own appointment with your House Member. If you have not already made your appointment with your House Member, we ask that you first contact your state chapter's Key Contact to make sure someone else has not already made an appointment with your Representative. The key contact for each state chapter will make appointments with the two Senate offices.
To date, the following states do not have anyone registered to attend the ACRA Capitol Hill Day:
- Alaska
- Delaware
- Kentucky
- Montana
- North Dakota
- Puerto Rico
- West Virginia
Our goal is to have every state represented on Capitol Hill. If your state does not have someone registered to attend Capitol Hill Day, please contact Ted Burnes at tburnes@acr.org.
For more information about the ACRA™ Capitol Hill Day, click here.
RSVP for the RADPAC Gala
The ACRA and RADPAC invite you to the Fourth Annual RADPAC Gala on Tuesday, May 22, during this year's AMCLC. The gala will include the presentation of the Congressional Award for Radiology Excellence (C.A.R.E) to Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.) as well as entertainment by political comedian Jim Morris.
To RSVP for the gala, please click here.
If you have any questions about this event, please contact Heather Kaiser at hkaiser@acr.org or (888) 295-8843.

ACR Members Win Video iPods
Please share this information with your members in any upcoming chapter communication.
ACR members Sean Beaty, M.D.; Susan Danahy, M.D.; and David Owens, M.D., recently won a free iPod by simply filling out a survey!
Winners Beaty, Danahy, and Owens (and more than 5,000 of their colleagues) completed and returned the short, simple ACR demographics survey, which was included in the 2007 annual ACR invoicing packet and were automatically entered into a drawing to win one of several video iPods.
The survey was part of an ongoing effort to understand your unique interests to better serve the entire ACR membership. In the coming year, the ACR will learn even more about you and your practice to ensure that the College responds to the concerns of the profession.
Congratulations again to our winners. Look for more opportunities to win in the coming year!
