Call for Nominations
The 2005-2006 College Nominating Committee will make recommendations for candidates to fill the office of president, vice president, elected positions on the Board of Chancellors, Council Steering Committee and College Nominating Committee; 4 members-in-training and a private practice representative to the Intersociety Summer Conference.
Any member can forward recommendations for any of the elected or selected positions to the College Nominating Committee in care of the ACR executive office on or before December 30, 2005.
All candidates must include a current curriculum vitae, a recent black and white photograph, at least 2 letters of support and a completed questionnaire describing the nature of their practice and their position on issues important to the College. The information is reviewed by the College Nominating Committee and used for publishing the election manual. The questionnaire and nomination information will be available on the ACR Web site (www.acr.org) or through the ACR office. All information can be mailed or forwarded electronically to Mary Jane Donahue at maryjaned@acr.org.
Additionally, all candidates must be present at the ACR Council meeting on Sunday, May 21, 2006. Only those candidates in contested elections will make a presentation to the Council prior to the election; however, all candidates must be present so they can be introduced to the Council.
Board of Chancellors Elected Vacancies
For 2006, one board member is eligible for a second 3-year term and there will be 2 additional new ACR board vacancies.
R. Terrell Frey, MD, Chair of the Commission on Membership and Chapter Programs is eligible to be elected for a second 3-year term.
For the new positions there is a need for a chair for the Commission on Medical Physics and an open position for a radiation oncologist. Candidates for these positions do not have to be councilors or alternate councilors, however, they should be qualified radiologists, physicists or radiation oncologists who have been actively involved in the College, have leadership qualities beneficial in addressing the issues brought to the board, and have expertise in the appropriate areas for the commissions they are interested in chairing.
Council Steering Committee
For 2006, the selected 5 or more eligible councilors, who must be councilors through May 2008, will compete for 3 positions on the Council Steering Committee, each for a 2-year term. These positions are eligible for re-election for an additional 2-year term, if the candidate is a councilor.
College Nominating Committee
For 2006, the selected 5 or more eligible councilors or alternate councilors, who must be councilors or alternate councilors through May 2008, will compete for 3 elected positions on the College Nominating Committee, each for a 2-year term. Members elected to the Nominating Committee by the Council cannot simultaneously serve on the Council Steering Committee.
Members in Training
Chapters are asked to submit to the College Nominating Committee the names of interested, involved members in training. The committee will nominate no more than 4 members-in-training, 2 of whom will be elected by the Council to attend the Intersociety Summer Conference in July 2006.
Private Practice Representative
The committee will select a physician who has a private office not affiliated with a hospital practice or who practices in a hospital without radiology residents to participate in the 2006 and 2007 Intersociety Summer Conferences.
Society Representatives
The Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology has been asked to present 3 members of the ACR to represent the ASTRO for a 3-year term on the Board of Chancellors. After consultation with the chairman of the Board of Chancellors, the College Nominating Committee will select 1 individual. Steven Leibel, MD, Chair of the Commission on Radiation Oncology, is eligible to serve a second 3-year term.
The Radiological Society of North America has been asked to choose 3 ACR members to represent the RSNA for a 3-year term on the Board of Chancellors. After consultation with the chairman of the Board of Chancellors, the College Nominating Committee will select 1 individual. R. Nick Bryan, MD, Chair of the Commission on Neuroradiology, is eligible to serve a second 3-year term.
