DCMRS Conference

The District of Columbia Metropolitan Radiological Society (DCMRS) sponsored a conference on "The Problematic Renal Mass" on January 27, 2005. Approximately 75 residents and radiologists attended the meeting.

The guest speaker was Peter Choyke, MD, chief of the Molecular Imaging Program at the National Cancer Institute. Choyke gave the renal mass presentation and reviewed new techniques for improving diagnosis of renal cancer, discussed small renal masses, and explained Bosniak classifications and recent modifications.

Choyke also conducted a residents' quiz, where he informally presented interesting examples of case studies, discussed them briefly, and then had the residents take a short test. Awards were presented to first- through fourth-year residents.

DCMRS attendees also heard from Ted Burnes, ACR's director of RADPAC. Burnes updated the chapter on RADPAC's contribution statistics from the 2003-2004 election cycle and discussed goals for the 2005-2006 election cycle.

The DCMRS Breast Imaging Update is scheduled for October 28-30, 2005, at George Washington University Hospital. The conference will begin at 5:30 pm on Friday, October 28, continues with lectures through Saturday, October 29, and will end midday on Sunday, October 30.
