Grassroots Action and Appropriate Utilization

The Government Relations Department has launched the Grassroots Action Team Program to educate, organize, and mobilize ACR members to get involved in the political process for the benefit of the radiology profession. The program will enable the College to use its collective power to influence not only who gets elected but what legislative initiatives are pursued in Congress. Recent studies have shown that constituent grassroots action is, in fact, the most important and effective means for influencing public policy. If you have not already done so, please join the Grassroots Action Team today.

The ACR has been and continues to be an active leader in promoting, improving, and protecting our profession. Diagnostic medical imaging has been cited as one driver behind increasing health care costs. As we face a new Congress, the College will be actively involved on a number of levels, working to ensure the appropriate, safe, high-quality utilization and interpretation of diagnostic medical imaging services. Key to this effort will be development of a legislative strategy.

At the appropriate time, members of the Grassroots Action Team will be called upon to deliver the ACR's message to Congress on this critical issue. By serving as a committed stakeholder who is both informed and effectively engaged in the process, you will be playing an important role advocating on behalf of the College. You can join the growing number of ACR members who have agreed to represent the College at the grassroots level by completing a brief questionnaire, available on the ACR Web site (www.acr.org) under the Advocacy tab (select Grassroots Advocacy).
