RADPAC Gala

RADPAC held its inaugural gala during the 2004 ACR Annual Meeting and Chapter Leadership Conference. During the dinner reception, Rep Nancy Johnson (R-Conn), Chair of the House Ways and Means Health Subcommittee, addressed the membership. After her presentation she was honored with the College's Congressional Award for Radiological Excellence (CARE) given by the ACR for her efforts on behalf of the radiology profession.

Johnson stressed the importance of radiologists becoming active in the political process. She said it is imperative for radiologists to educate members of Congress on issues important to preserving quality patient care. Johnson discussed the need to fix the physician fee schedule and the sustainable growth rate formula. She also acknowledged the impact inappropriate utilization of imaging has had on rising costs in the health care system.

Following dinner, the renowned Washington, DC, comical satire group the Capitol Steps performed.
