Capitol Hill Visits

Radiology's political message took center stage May 11 as ACR members took their issues and concerns to Capitol Hill in what has become an important annual event.

Several hundred ACR members who were attending the ACR's 81st Annual Meeting and Chapter Leadership Conference met with lawmakers or their legislative staff to raise awareness of radiology's position on medical liability reform and inappropriate utilization of imaging. This year's visit to Capitol Hill featured one of the largest group of ACR members ever to take part in this program.

"ACR members are the experts on these issues and they turned out in force to take radiology's message to Congress," said ACR Assistant Executive Director Cindy Moran. "ACR members shared their expertise with those on Capitol Hill whose decisions impact not only radiology, but the entire practice of medicine, and they effectively made their views known."
