ACRa Present at Political Party Conventions

The American College of Radiology Association (ACRa) leaders and staff represented the College at the Democratic Convention held in Boston, Mass, July 25–29, and will attend the Republican Convention, held in New York City, NY, August 29–September 2. ACRa representatives attending both events are: James Borgstede, MD, chair, Board of Chancellors; Arl Van Moore, Jr, MD, chair, RADPAC; Harvey Neiman, MD, ACR executive director; Josh Cooper, director of congressional relations; Jay Greissing, assistant director of congressional relations; and Ted Burnes, director of RADPAC.

The conventions present a unique opportunity for ACRa and RADPAC to gain additional visibility among congressional members and staff. Many of the activities and events scheduled provide unparalleled access to key decision makers on policies important to the profession of radiology.

In Boston at the Democratic National Convention, ACRa leaders and staff met with many members of Congress and staff, including Sen Ron Wyden (Oregon), Sen Max Baucus (Montana, ranking member of the Senate Finance Committee), and Sen Jeff Bingaman (New Mexico), as well as Rep Earl Pomeroy (North Dakota), Rep Tim Holden (Pennsylvania), Rep Allen Boyd (Florida), Rep Sherrod Brown (Ohio), Rep Bart Gordon (Tennessee), Rep Jerry Costello (Illinois), and Rep Richard Neal (Massachusetts).

Moore represented the membership at convention events along with members from the Massachusetts Radiological Society.
