ACR Task Force on Medical Liability Created to Guide Policy

Last fall E. Stephen Amis Jr., M.D., chairman of the ACR Board of Chancellors, asked Paul Ellenbogen, M.D., to create a task force of geographically diverse and practice-diverse members to study the impact of rising malpractice premiums on radiology. After thorough investigation, including extensive surveying of the membership and analysis of various political strategic campaigns, the Medical Malpractice Task Force will report its findings and recommendations to the Board of Chancellors in May and offer a resolution of action to the Council Steering Committee at the 2004 Annual Meeting and Chapter Leadership Conference.

The recommendations of the task force as well as the outcomes of consideration by the board and Council Steering Committee will be reported in the next issue of the ACR Advocate.
