Academic and Private Practice Alliance
The ACR has initiated an effort through the ACR Committee on Academic and Private Practice Alliance to encourage private and academic practices to work cooperatively to help mitigate some of the issues facing academic radiology today. This initiative was started as part of an ACR Council action taken in 2006. Resolution 33 stated:
BE IT RESOLVED,
that the ACR create a committee that will advance awareness throughout the radiology community of the critical importance of radiology service, education and research. The principal charge of the committee will be to coordinate a cooperative and noncompetitive effort to elicit real and tangible support of Academic Radiology. The committee will coordinate with the ACR state chapters to establish a “grass roots” development effort that will focus on the creation of regional alliances between academic radiology departments and local private practice groups, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,
that the committee will have the responsibility of reporting its activities to the Board of Chancellors of the ACR.
The Committee is co-chaired by Drs. Thomas B. Fletcher, M.D., FACR and Gerald Dodd, M.D., FACR.
This web page will highlight the crisis faced by academic radiology and focus on practical solutions being both championed and taken at the grassroots level. We encourage you to preview the excellent presentation provided by Drs. Dodd and Fletcher at the 2007 ACR Annual Meeting and Chapter Leadership Conference’s Chapter Forum. If you have any information on private practice/academic partnerships or alliances occurring in your area, please contact Adrian Kosmicki of the ACR at 800-227-5463 ext. 4917.
