Appropriate Utilization
Rising health care costs are a perpetual and fundamental problem facing the nation today. With imaging technology pinpointed as one driver behind the overall escalating costs, the ACR is actively evaluating the provision and interpretation of imaging services by provider type, site of service, and frequency to identify solutions that will ensure the appropriate utilization of medical imaging.
The ACR has engaged health care stakeholders from the private and public sectors to establish mechanisms which will ensure that the American public receives safe, high-quality, and correctly interpreted medical imaging exams. This is a rapidly progressing issue and up-to-date information may be obtained by contacting the ACR Government Relations or Economics and Health Policy departments directly.
