Vol. 45 Risk Management

Category 2 Credit

In today's medical practices, a knowledge of medicolegal issues is almost as important as knowledge of a patient's case history. Certain fundamental concepts regarding civil law that apply to medical practices are not only important to recognize, but are likely to be understood by most practicing physicians.

ACR's Risk Management Syllabus features cases that were selected to introduce and reinforce legal principles that have universal applications. Concepts of medical negligence, physician-patient and physician-physician relationships, documentation, and referral patterns are discussed in multiple contexts. Particular areas are explored that apply to most, if not all, practice circumstances—including teleradiology, radiation oncology, antitrust law, sedation, and sexual harassment in the workplace.
