Harris L. Cohen, MD, FACR

CPI Program Chair/Editor in Chief

Harris L. Cohen, MD, FACR, of Memphis, TN, is the CPI Program Chair and Editor-in-Chief. Cohen’s extensive experience in radiology as a clinician and educator involved with various continuing education activities, coupled with his attention to detail and passion for the subject matter contributes invaluably to the high quality of each new CPI module.

Cohen is Chairman of Radiology at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center; Medical Director of Radiology at Le Bonheur Children’s Medical Center; and Professor of Radiology, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Professor of Pediatrics. Over the past 25 years, he has authored more than 230 publications and 175 presentations and/or printed abstracts, including working as the editor-in-chief of the ACR’s Professional Self Improvement Syllabus Series. He has reviewed many and authored a few of the more than 160 topics included in the ACR Appropriateness Criteria®, and the ACR Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards. Furthermore, Cohen has been instrumental in creating more than 20 teaching tools for radiologists in several mediums including video and audio tapes, computer software and CD-ROMs, many of which include CME offerings. A widely sought after speaker, Cohen has lectured at more than 60 hospitals and medical schools across the country on topics including pediatric radiology, fetal ultrasound, and adolescent gynecologic ultrasound. His outstanding achievements and dedication to improving radiology practice have also been recognized by his peers: he was made a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics in 1984, the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine in 1988, the American College of Radiology in 1992, and the Society of Radiologists in Ultrasound of 1993. He is also a member of and has served on a number of committees in the American Roentgen Ray Society, Radiological Society of North America, Society for Pediatric Radiology, and Association for University Radiologists.

Having trained more than 20 radiology fellows over the past two decades, Cohen’s dedication to educational excellence is evident. He earned his medical degree from the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center where he also completed his residency, and went on to pursue a fellowship in pediatric radiology at the National Medical center in Washington, DC.

Diego Martin, MD, PhD

CPI Body MRI Special Edition

Diego R. Martin, MD, PhD, of Atlanta, GA, is CPI Body MRI Special Edition Chair. His extensive research and interest in MRI techniques for disease detection and diagnosis has characterized him as a leader in the field as a clinician, investigator and educator.

Martin is currently Director of MRI, Director of the Clinically Applied Research Body MRI Program and Chair of the MRI Safety Committee for the Emory Radiology Department in Atlanta, GA, as well as Professor of Radiology. He has been instrumental in leading his department to international acclaim as a leading center on patient safety related to contrast and noninvasive diagnostics; fast-scanning whole body techniques with reduced scanner times; education, including initiation of an MRI clinical research fellowship and other training pathways; and in advances in state-of-the-art techniques and new MRI applications for diagnosis and therapy monitoring. Martin’s published research is extensive and focuses on innovations developing and examining safe, noninvasive ways to characterize and detect diseases of the liver, pancreas, kidneys, bowel, chest and vascular systems using MRI. He has authored over 80 peer-reviewed manuscripts, two textbooks, several book chapters, and has been selected to deliver more than 100 lectures and seminars at educational institutions and scientific meetings nationwide and abroad. His research is supported by a mixture of industry and competitive grants.

Martin is a manuscript reviewer for several medical journals, including the American Journal of Roentgenology, Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, The Lancet, Cancer, RadioGraphics and Magnetic Resonance in Medicine. Martin has served as a guest editor for the MRI Clinics of North America, and is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, book reviews. He is also active in several professional medical societies including the American College of Radiology, American Roentgen Ray Society, Radiological Society of North America,  International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, and is a Fellow of the Society of Computed Body Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging. Martin is the Director of the ACR Body MRI Course at the ACR Education Center in Reston, VA, where he assists radiologists in improving upon their current skill sets in body MRI, and has served as the course coordinator and Chairman of the ACR Annual Body MRI Update course since 2006.

Martin received his medical degree and PhD from the University of Toronto, where he also completed his internship and residency in radiology, followed by a fellowship in body imaging. Martin’s PhD was obtained in 1991 and his research was conducted at the Biomedical-Physics Institute, Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto, Canada. He also pursued an additional fellowship in Body MRI from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, in 2000.

Kathryn Evers, MD, FACR

CPI Breast Radiology

Kathryn Evers, MD, FACR, of Philadelphia, PA, has been CPI Breast Panel Chair since 2004, and has been a member of the panel since 1998. Her expertise in breast imaging has been demonstrated over the course of her 30-year career through her various positions in both the clinical and academic environments, as well as her involvement in professional societies and continuing education initiatives. She was named one of Philadelphia’s Top Doctors in 2009 from Philadelphia Magazine.

Evers is the Director of Mammography in the Department of Diagnostic Imaging at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, PA, a position she has held since 2000, and clinical Associate Professor of radiology at Temple University Hospital. She has also taught at the University of Massachusetts School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and Hahnemann University Hospital. Read More

Evers earned her bachelor’s degree from Wellesley College and medical degree from New York University. After completing her internship in internal medicine at the University of Connecticut Affiliated Hospitals and radiology residency at the Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania, where she was appointed Chief Resident, Evers went on to pursue a fellowship in Gastrointestinal Radiology at the Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania.

She is the author of more than 30 articles, books, and scientific abstracts and exhibits with publications in American Journal of Roentgenology, Radiology, International Journal of Oncology, and Cancer. She has lectured widely since 1990, and has presented material at hospitals and medical schools as well as professional society meetings such as the American Roentgen Ray Society Annual Meeting and the Radiological Society of North American Annual Meeting.

She is a reviewer for the AJR, Cancer Investigation, New England Journal of Medicine, Cancer, and is a reviewer and Deputy Editor for breast for Academic Radiology. She is a film reviewer for the ACR Mammography Accreditation Program and serves on the advisory committee, and has served on the Department of Defense Breast Cancer Programmatic Review Panel. Furthermore, Evers is a co-investigator on two grants for research into breast density from the American Institute of Cancer Research.

Edith Marom, MD

CPI Chest Radiology

Edith M. Marom, MD, of Houston, TX, is CPI Panel Chair of Chest Radiology. Marom completed her fellowship in thoracic radiology at Duke University Medical Center in 1998 and is currently working as Professor of Thoracic Radiology at The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Her passion and strong interest in thoracic radiology has made her a valuable addition to the CPI program.

Born in the United States, and raised in Israel, Marom earned her medical degree from the Sackler School of Medicine, Tel Aviv University, in 1992. She completed her residency in diagnostic radiology at Rabin Medical Center in Petach Tikva, Israel, where she continued working in the radiology department until 1997, and then pursued a fellowship in thoracic imaging in North Carolina. Upon completion of her fellowship, she worked as an Assistant Professor of Radiology at Duke University Medical Center until 2002. Read More

At The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Marom currently serves on several institutional committees, including the quality assurance chest section. Over the past decade, she has participated in over 25 research projects, eleven of which she was the principal investigator.

Marom is active in several professional societies, including the American College of Radiology, American Roentgen Ray Society, Radiological Society of North America, the Society of Thoracic Radiology, and the International Association for the study of Lung Cancer. She is also a founding member of the International Thymic Malignancy Interest Group (ITMIG). The ITMIG was created to help with the treatment and understanding of thymomas and thymic carcinomas. The organization is focused on patient advocacy and the promotion of research.

To her credit, Marom has contributed over 50 articles to peer-reviewed journals such as Radiology and the American Journal of Roentgenology. One of her publications was voted as one of the top ten published in infectious diseases in 2008 by the Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy. In addition, she currently serves as a reviewer for four trade journals including the AJR.

Michael Buetow, MD

CPI Gastrointestinal Tract Radiology

Michael P. Buetow, MD, of Okemos, MI, is CPI Panel Chair of Gastrointestinal Radiology. Buetow has a strong interest in abdominal imaging and currently works as a staff radiologist at Lansing Radiology Associates in Lansing, MI, where he has been president since 2004. He is Medical Director for Baker College, School of Ultrasound, and Clinton Memorial Hospital, and serves on the clinical faculty at Michigan State University.

Buetow received his MD from Hahnemann University in Philadelphia, PA. In 1992, he completed his residency in diagnostic radiology at Hershey Medical Center where he served as Chief Resident for one year. After completion of his residency program, he worked as a diagnostic radiologist – lieutenant commander for the US Navy. He was first stationed in Guam from 1992-1994 and was then sent to Portsmouth, VA, in 1994, where he worked for a year as the division head of ultrasound at the US Naval Hospital. Read More

In 1995, Buetow left the Navy and became an assistant professor of radiology at Michigan State University. While there, he developed an interest in abdominal imaging and served as head of the protocol committees for ultrasound and CT.  In 1999, Buetow left MSU as an assistant professor and became a staff radiologist for Lansing Radiology Associates and Sparrow Health System in East Lansing, MI. From 1999-2007 he served as medical director for the department of ultrasound at Sparrow Hospital.

Buetow is a member of seven professional societies including the American College of Radiology, the American Roentgen Ray Society, the American Society of Emergency Radiology, and the Radiological Society of North America. He has presented at 12 different radiological meetings and medical institutions across the US and has contributed over ten articles to various radiology trade publications.

Vikram Dogra, MD

CPI Genitourinary Tract Radiology

Vikram S. Dogra, MD, of Rochester, NY, is Panel Chair of CPI Genitourinary Tract Radiology. His interests in ultrasound, MR, CT and GU radiology have earned him a solid reputation in radiology in both the clinical and academic setting.

Dogra is a Professor of Diagnostic Radiology, Urology and Biomedical Engineering, Associate Chair of Education and Research and Director of the Division of Ultrasound at the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY. He is also Affiliate Professor for the Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science at the Rochester Institute of Technology. He travels extensively with Medical Imaging Partnership, a nonprofit organization he established to provide medical expertise and equipment to developing countries around the world. Read More

Over the past 15 years, Dogra has published more than 100 peer-reviewed, scientific articles in journals such as the Journal of Clinical Ultrasound, American Journal of Neuroradiology, Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine, and American Journal of Roentgenology. He has served as invited guest editor, manuscript reviewer and served on the editorial boards of several medical journals in addition to publishing seven books and contributing to nearly 20 book chapters.

A widely sought-after speaker, Dogra has presented many lectures and scientific exhibits on relevant radiology topics around the world. He has been invited to speak at several major national and international radiology meetings including the Radiological Society of North America’s annual meeting and the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine’s Annual Convention, European Society of Uroradiology, and World Federation of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology, among others. He has received several grants for his ongoing research and holds three patents.

Dogra earned his medical degree from Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research in India, completed his diagnostic radiology residency at the State University of New York at Buffalo, and cross-sectional imaging fellowship at Strong Memorial Hospital at the University of Rochester. He has received numerous awards for his work, including his dedication to continuing education, and has earned fellowship in Society of Uroradiology, European Society of Uroradiology, American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, and Society of Radiologists in Ultrasound. Most recently he was awarded honorary membership into the Turkish Society of Radiology and the Turkish Society of Ultrasound while on sabbatical in the country for just six months. Dogra, while teaching and lecturing at Hacettepe University in Ankara, was presented this honorary membership at the 2009 Annual Convention in Antalya. The Society cited his contributions to the advancement of radiology and ultrasound in Turkey. This marks the very first time that, in its 86 years of existence, the Society has ever conferred this honor to a radiologist.

Marco Amendola, MD

CPI Genitourinary Tract Radiology

Marco A. Amendola, MD, FACR, of Coral Gables, FL, is CPI Panel Co-Chair of Genitourinary Tract Radiology. He brings more than 30 years of experience in both hospital and academic radiology to the CPI program, which he has served as previous Genitourinary Panel Chair and a valued member since 1998.

Amendola, who is board certified in both diagnostic radiology and radiation oncology, is Director of Medical Imaging of the Innovative Cancer Institute, a free-standing facility located in South Miami, FL. Twice he has been appointed as an expert consultant in the approval of new imaging agents by the Food and Drug Administration in 1997 and again in 2005. Over the course of his career, Amendola has published more than 100 scientific peer-reviewed papers and has edited two textbooks in the fields of radiology and radiation therapy, in addition to serving on the editorial boards for several professional scientific medical journals. With his natural penchant for education, Amendola has been a Professor of Radiology at the University of Michigan, the University of Pennsylvania and more recently at the Medical College of Virginia and at the University of Miami. An extensive lecturer, Amendola has presented on a variety of topics in the United States, Venezuela, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Columbia, Guatemala, Panama, Ecuador, Peru, Germany, Italy, Spain, Israel and his native Uruguay. Over the past five years, he has served as the Principal Investigator for more than 10 research studies, including those with the American College of Radiology Imaging Network™.

Amendola is has received numerous awards for teaching and has been honored as a fellow in the American College of Radiology, the American Academy of Angiology, and the Society of Uroradiology. He received his medical degree from the University of the Republic in Uruguay, and completed his residency and fellowship at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA.

Kirkland Davis, MD

CPI Musculoskeletal Radiology

Kirkland W. Davis, MD, is CPI Panel Chair of Musculoskeletal Radiology. Davis completed his fellowship in musculoskeletal radiology at the University of Maryland Medical System in 2000 and is currently working as an Associate Professor in the Musculoskeletal Division at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.

Davis earned his MD from the Medical University of South Carolina and he completed his radiology residency at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC. He has a special interest in interventional musculoskeletal procedures, such as vertebroplasty, radiofrequency ablation, cryoablation and spine injections. He also carries expertise in extremity and spine hardware, sports medicine imaging, particularly the hip and knee, and has developed a special interest in pediatric sports medicine imaging. A notable speaker in the radiology community, Davis has been invited to and has spoken at over 50 meetings internationally and nationally. He has also attended six visiting professorships at various Universities and Colleges across the US. Having done a substantial amount of research, Davis has over 15 journal articles to his credit and a number of scientific presentations and exhibits.

Davis is a member of seven professional organizations; including the American College of Radiology, American Roentgen Ray Society, Radiological Society of North America, and is a founding member of the Society of Academic Bone Radiologists. He has received three magna cum laude, three cum laude, and two certificates of merit for educational poster exhibits, all from the RSNA.

Laura Bancroft, MD

CPI Musculoskeletal Radiology

Laura W. Bancroft, MD, of Winter Park, FL, is Co-Chair of the Musculoskeletal Panel and served as Chair of the Musculoskeletal Panel in 2010. Bancroft completed her fellowship in musculoskeletal imaging in 1997 at the Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville. She currently works as a Clinical Professor at the Florida State University School of Medicine, Adjunct Professor at the University of Central Florida and a diagnostic radiologist at Florida Hospital in Orlando.

In 1992, Bancroft received her MD from the University of Missouri in Kansas City. She later, in 1996, completed her residency in diagnostic radiology at Jackson Memorial Medical Center, University of Miami School of Medicine. Read More

Throughout her career, Bancroft has participated in many musculoskeletal educational activities. She has developed curriculums/courses, taught, and served as a mentor. In 2003, she received the teacher of the year award from the Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville.

Bancroft has presented both internationally and nationally. In 2009, she embarked on a 12-day trip to Bolivia, where she spent time giving presentations and teaching intensive seminars to members of the Bolivian radiology societies and hospital radiology departments. She has participated in multiple invited lectures and visiting professorships in both the US and Canada. She will be a part of the American Roentgen Ray’s inaugural global initiative to Korea in October, 2010.

Bancroft belongs to several professional societies, including the American College of Radiology, the American Roentgen Ray Society, the Radiological Society of North America, the International Skeletal Society and Society of Skeletal Radiology. She received multiple Cum Laude and Awards of Merit from the RSNA for scientific and educational presentations.

Norman Beauchamp, MD

CPI Neuroradiology

Norman J. Beauchamp, Jr., MD, MHS, of Seattle, WA, is CPI Panel Chair of Neuroradiology. Beauchamp completed his radiology residency and fellowship in neuroradiology and neurointerventional radiology at Johns Hopkins University and is currently working as a Professor and Chair of the Radiology Department at the University of Washington. He is also a Professor of neurosurgery and industrial engineering and has served as President of the University of Washington Physician Practice Plan.

Beauchamp earned his MD from Michigan State University and shortly after, completed a general surgery internship at Blodgett Medical Hospital and Michigan State University, in Grand Rapids, MI. Read More

To date, Beauchamp has been a member of numerous professional societies and has served on several committees. He is currently a member of the American College of Radiology serving on the board of chancellors; the American Roentgen Ray Society, serving on the executive council; a senior member of the American Society of Neuroradiology; a member of the Association of University Radiologists Board of Directors, serving on the board of directors; serves on the board of the Society for Chairs of Academic Radiology Departments (SCARD); and is chair of the Coalition for Imaging and Bioengineering Research. Previously, Beauchamp served as chair of the Radiology Research Alliance.

A well-known, highly respected neuroradiologist, Beauchamp has received several notable honors and awards throughout his career. In 1998, he received the ARRS scholarship and three times he was awarded the outstanding faculty teaching award in radiology at Johns Hopkins. He has also received two certificates of merit from the RSNA.

Beauchamp’s background includes extensive research in the area of neuroradiology. He has served as the principle investigator for nine studies with an emphasis on stroke and dementia. He also has a patent for the computer-aided processing and analysis for stroke in neuroimages.

To his credit, Beauchamp has contributed over 80 articles to various peer-reviewed journals and over 20 manuscripts and book chapters to several non-peer reviewed publications. He co-edited a book entitled Radiology Business Practice: How to Succeed. He has presented at over 80 invited meetings and symposia and continues to make his mark within the radiology community with his superior expertise and passion for education.

Marc Seltzer, MD, FACR

CPI Nuclear Radiology

Marc A. Seltzer, MD, of Hanover, NH, is CPI Panel Chair of Nuclear Medicine. An expert educator of PET/CT, Seltzer spent six years as Assistant Professor of Nuclear Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles, prior to his current position as Associate Professor of Radiology and Director of the PET/CT program at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, NH. He is well known for developing a physician training program called the GE Healthcare Master Series, which was created for radiologists and nuclear medicine physicians needing formal training in PET and PET-CT interpretation.

Seltzer is an experienced lecturer on PET applications in the fields of cardiology, oncology and neurology, and has contributed to books and written papers on the PET’s impact on cancer management and other related topics. His expertise is well-recognized by the American College of Radiology, as he has been course director for the popular ACR-Dartmouth PET/CT Course at the ACR Education Center since the course’s inception in July of 2008. His background in education makes him an ideal candidate for this position, which involves a high level of supervision on his part as well as a thorough understanding of the technology and subject matter. Marguerite M. Caré, MD

CPI Pediatric Neuroradiology

Marguerite M. Caré, MD, is CPI Panel Chair of Pediatric Neuroradiology. Caré is Assistant Professor of Neuroradiology at Children's Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, OH where she completed two fellowships; one in pediatric radiology and another in pediatric neuroradiology. Since 1998, she has served on the child abuse team at Children's Hospital Center which consists of physicians, fellows, social workers and legal and police representation.

An enthusiast for pediatric neuroradiology, Caré loves working with children. She says figuring out the problems on imaging is like finding the right pieces to a puzzle, and she enjoys the link to the developing fetus, infant and growing child. Read More

Caré received her undergraduate and medical degree from Creighton University in Omaha, NE. She completed her residency in diagnostic radiology at the University of Cincinnati, University Hospital, and received her board certification from the American Board of Radiology in 1997.

An active member of the pediatric radiology community, Caré is a member of the American Society of Neuroradiology, the Society of Pediatric Radiology and the American Society of Pediatric Neuroradiology.

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time in her yard and garden. If she could choose another job in life besides radiology, Caré said she would open up her own garden and landscape business.

Alan Schlesinger, MD, FACR

CPI Pediatric Radiology

Alan E. Schlesinger, MD, of Houston, TX, has been CPI Pediatric Radiology Panel Chair since 2007, and has been a member of the panel since 2005. His 25 years experience in pediatric imaging has been spent at teaching hospitals where he has been involved in medical student, resident and fellow education. Throughout his career Schlesinger has been resident program director and director of medical student education.

Schlesinger is a Professor of Radiology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX, and associate radiologist at Texas Children’s Hospital. His education includes a bachelor of arts in biology from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine. After completing his internship in internal medicine at University Hospital in Boston and a radiology residency at Boston City Hospital, where he was also Chief Resident, Schlesinger went on to pursue a fellowship in pediatric radiology at The Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Schlesinger began giving lectures on pediatric radiology in 1985 and has since made more than 100 presentations at universities and scientific meetings nationwide. He has authored more than 60 papers in peer-reviewed journals such as Radiology, Pediatric Radiology, Military Medicine, Journal of Urology and American Journal of Roentgenology. Furthermore, he has presented 18 exhibits and 40 papers at scientific meetings on a variety of topics related to pediatric radiology.

Schlesinger holds memberships with more than 20 professional medical societies in addition to the American College of Radiology. His expertise in pediatric radiology has earned such prestigious positions as past president of the Southern Pediatric Radiologic Society, chair of the Committee on Education and Training of the Society for Pediatric Radiology, reviewer of Pediatric Radiology, and member of the Board of Directors of the Society for Pediatric Radiology, among others.

Sheila Sheth, MD

Sheila Sheth, MD, FACR, of Baltimore, MD, has recently been appointed CPI Panel Chair of Ultrasonography. While her expertise mainly lies in ultrasound, body CT and image-guided biopsy, her research areas of interest extend to gynecological imaging and cross-sectional modalities, making her a highly sought after lecturer, educator and clinician.

Sheth is Associate Professor of Radiology and Pathology at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD, and Director of Image-Guided Biopsy Service at Johns Hopkins Hospital, where she regularly lectures to medical students, diagnostic radiology residents, and students of the Johns Hopkins School of Ultrasound Technology. Her dedication to continuing education and training extends far beyond the classroom: she has published more than 50 peer-reviewed scientific articles in journals such as Radiology, American Journal of Roentgenology, and Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine, as well as 15 book chapters. Furthermore, she has made more than 60 scientific presentations at the annual meetings of the Radiological Society of North America, the American Roentgen Ray Society, the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, the Association of the University Radiologists and the American Society of Cytopathology, on topics including academic radiology, ultrasonography and oncologic imaging applications.

Sheth’s talent has been decidedly recognized by the radiology profession. She was honored as a fellow of the Society of Radiologists in Ultrasound in 2008 and the ACR in 2009, and has been appointed to various committees for professional medical societies, including the ACR Radiology Resident In-Training Examination.

Sheth earned her medical degree from Centre Hospitalo-Universitaire Necker-Enfants Malades Universite de Paris V, and went on to complete two internships at the University of Manitoba Affiliated Hospitals ─ a rotating internship and a pediatric internship. Her training concluded in Baltimore, MD, where she was a radiology resident at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore and completed a fellowship at Johns Hopkins in body imaging.

Bernice Capusten, MD

CPI Ultrasonography

Bernice Capusten, MD, FACR, FRCPC, of Alberta, Canada, is Co-Chair of the Ultrasonography  Panel and served as Chair of Ultrasonography in 2008-2009. She is responsible for the division of ultrasound at Red Deer Regional Hospital in Red Deer, Alberta and is a founding member of the Royal College of Physicians, Professional Development Committee that developed the Maintenance of Certification Program for specialists in Canada. The format of CPD/CPI has since been adopted in the United States.

Dr. Capusten’s interests in ultrasound, cardiovascular imaging and women’s imaging offer a unique perspective in developing continuing educational tools for radiologists to help maintain their skills. Read More

Dr. Capusten is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan Medical School, and completed a radiology residency at McGill University. She is a member of the American College of Radiology, Radiological Society of North American, Society of Radiologists in Ultrasound, American Association for Women Radiologists, Canadian Medical Association and American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine. As a member of the Alberta College of Physicians and Surgeons Diagnostic Imaging Committee, she assisted in drafting the practice assessment process and ultrasound guidelines.

Additionally, Dr. Capusten has organized the biannual "Ultrasound in the Rockies" meeting for the past 20 years as well as the first Best Practice Workshop (Royal College designation). An award has been named after her by the Alberta Diagnostic Sonographers.

Gary Siskin, MD

CPI Vascular and Interventional Radiology

Gary Siskin, MD, FSIR, of Albany, NY, is CPI Panel Chair of Vascular and Interventional Radiology. Siskin has a special interest in gynecologic interventions and currently serves as Professor and Chairman in the Department of Radiology at Albany Medical Center.

In 1990, Siskin received his MD from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, NY. He completed his residency in diagnostic radiology at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY, and completed his fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology, at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York, NY. Since 1996, Siskin has been an active member of the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR). He has served as editor of the SIR newsletter, co-chairman of the economics committee, and editor of the SIR coding guide. In previous years, Siskin has served as a coordinator of several workshops and categorical courses at the SIR’s annual meetings and was recently asked to serve on the SIR annual meeting committee for the next four years. Aside from the SIR, Siskin is also an active member of the American College of Radiology, the Radiological Society of North America and the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology Society of Europe.

Siskin has presented and published extensively in the area of gynecologic interventions. Thieme Medical Publishers released the first edition of his textbook entitled Women’s Health and Interventional Radiology in 2009. Siskin also has 95 invited lectures to his credit.
