Disaster Preparedness for Radiology Professionals - Version 3.0

The ACR Disaster Planning Task Force, in collaboration with the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology and the American Association of Physicists in Medicine, offers this primer as a quick reference summarizing current information on preparing for a radiation emergency, handling contaminated persons, dose assessment and radiation exposure health effects. It also includes information on radiological findings related to agents of biological and chemical terrorism. In the event of a radiation disaster, radiologists, radiation oncologists and medical physicists will play a vital role as responders and as sources of accurate information for patients, the public and the medical community.
