The HIPAA laws have given the federal government expanded power to investigate and prosecute fraud and abuse within Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance programs. The ACR, through its Commission on Economics’ Regulatory Compliance Task Force, developed this publication in an effort to help you deal with these enforcement activities. A "compliance plan" is a series of policies and guidelines designed to promote adherence to federal and state statutes and regulations and to correct any deviation from them. This document serves as a sample compliance plan for your practice.
