Dr. Curran was elected as the group chair of the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) in 1996. He had previously served as the RTOG deputy chair and the chair of RTOG's Brain Tumor Committee. Dr. Curran is also the secretary/treasurer of the Coalition of the National Cooperative Groups, Inc., and a Founding Board of Directors member within that organization. He serves on the editorial board of six journals and has authored or co-authored nearly 200 manuscripts, chapters, and abstracts.
He has served as principal investigator or co-principal investigator of over 20 NCI-supported clinical trials. In addition to his RTOG research work, Dr. Curran currently leads an NCI-funded effort to determine the clinical relevance of genomic alterations in colorectal cancer and several trials evaluating novel systemic agents in conjunction with radiation.
