Reston, Va. –– Bruce J. Hillman, M.D., has been selected as the editor in chief of the Journal of the American College of Radiology. Hillman is the Theodore E. Keats professor and chairman of the Department of Radiology at the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville and is a chancellor of the ACR.
"I am very excited that Dr. Hillman has accepted the editorship of the JACR," said ACR Executive Director Harvey L. Neiman, M.D. "He is a foremost researcher and radiologist and has vast experience as an editor, and as an author of numerous journal manuscripts. His leadership will be a cornerstone of the new journal."
With an anticipated launch in early 2004, the mission of the monthly JACR is to advance the practice of radiology through the publication of articles designed to assist practitioners in medical decision-making, practice management and providing quality patient care. The JACR will include selected peer-reviewed articles on significant clinical and socioeconomic research about the practice of radiology, radiation oncology, nuclear medicine, interventional radiology and medical physics.
Hillman completed his undergraduate studies at Princeton University and earned his medical degree at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. In addition, Hillman is chairman of the ACR Commission on Research and Technology Assessment and is the principal investigator with the ACR Imaging Network.
The ACR is a national nonprofit association serving more than 32,000 radiologists, radiation oncologists, interventional radiologists and medical physicists with programs focusing on the practice of radiology and the delivery of comprehensive health care services.
