Reston, Va. –– The American College of Radiology has been elected to the 2003 Associations Advance America Honor Roll in recognition of its diagnostic and radiation oncology accreditation programs.
The annual awards competition, now in its thirteenth year, is sponsored by the American Society of Association Executives. The program recognizes associations that develop innovative projects in the areas of education, skills training and community service.
The diagnostic and radiation oncology accreditation programs were the first programs the College introduced in 1966. Today, the ACR offers accreditation programs in nine fields and is recognized as a leader in medical imaging and radiation oncology accreditation.
"The ACR is honored to receive this distinctive recognition," said E. Stephen Amis Jr., M.D., chairman of the ACR Board of Chancellors. "The College's accreditation programs have established a degree of uniformity critical to the practice of radiology and have helped to ensure the highest degree of quality patient care."
The ACR is a national nonprofit association serving more than 32,000 radiologists, radiation oncologists, interventional radiologists and medical physicists with programs focusing on the practice of radiology and the delivery of comprehensive health care services.
