Commission on Nuclear Medicine
The ACR Committee on Education to the Commission on Nuclear Medicine has been successful in advancing nuclear medicine education. In part, this has been accomplished by fostering an ongoing constructive dialogue among leaders of the ACR, the Society of Nuclear Medicine (SNM) and the Association of Program Directors in Radiology (APDR).
One result is that in the past two years, the ACR has organized four educational presentations (and sponsored three) at SNM annual meetings. Resident education is another important focus of the ACR Nuclear Medicine Education Committee. Until now, there has been no residency program directors' organization for nuclear medicine, the only specialty without one. With support from the ACR committee, the APDR has worked with the nuclear medicine program directors to form a group which will be affiliated with the APDR.
The Nuclear Medicine Education Committee has also contributed to the development of a new nuclear medicine resident education curriculum and has written a section for RadiologyInfo, the joint ACR-RSNA patient information Web site.
Members of the committee periodically review outside nuclear medicine sites that offer teaching files. See below for links to teaching file sites with brief descriptive comments.
