Meaningful Use/EHR Final Rules Released
On July 13, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Office of the National Coordinator for HIT (ONC) released final rules implementing Stage 1 of the Medicare/Medicaid incentive program for meaningful use of certified electronic health record (EHR) technology. Both final rules will be published in the July 28 Federal Register.

ACR has been actively engaged in the CMS and ONC rulemaking process throughout 2009 and 2010, including meeting with HHS leaders and staff, submitting testimony and letters, monitoring more than forty federal advisory committee and taskforce/workgroup meetings, and submitting formal comments on the CMS and ONC rules.
