Case in Point Acknowledgment Letter
Thank you for submitting your Case in Point topic. Your case topic will be forwarded to Rona Woldenberg M.D., Editor-in-Chief, Case in Point, for her review. You should receive a response to your suggestion within 3 weeks. Please be aware that acceptance of a TOPIC does not mean a case is a definite for posting. Once completed, the case will be subject to our peer review process. In the meantime, I enclosed the following.
As the first step, I've listed the required components for each case, below, for your review.
- Section/Subsection (organ system/modality/specific anatomical area, pathology);
- 2-3 case points (Points that the reader should "take away" after viewing the case.)
- History and appropriate clinical data
- 2 copies of each case image (one non-annotated image and one annotated image, as appropriate), with any required information re modalities, views, pulse sequences, isotope, contrast, etc. Annotation by the author will ensure accuracy of image findings.
- Findings
- Questions (The EDACTIC application supports a variety of question types: multiple choice with single correct answer; multiple choice with "all that apply" answers; T/F questions; fill-in-the blank. You can also present an image requiring the reader to identify and click on an abnormality, or indicate that there is no abnormality on the image.)
- For each question, rationales for the correct answer and for all possible choices
- Differential diagnoses
- Discussion (limited to 2-3 paragraphs)
- References (Please list out the first 3 authors prior to using "et al", to conform to the ACR style guide.)
- Keywords (for indexed searching)
Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Once a case topic is established, I will email you an Individual agreement form, a Conflict of Interest form, a W-9 tax form and a Co-Chair approval form (used by residents/fellows) which we will ask you to sign, to document your intent to submit cases and the ACR’s intent to pay $200 per accepted case. You may contact Maris Wilkerson by email at mwilkerson@acr.org regarding Case in Point.
