RSS stands for “Really Simple Syndication.” RSS enables you to stay informed with news from various Web sites without having to visit them each individually. RSS readers collect and display RSS feeds for you in a modified format — just headlines and a brief summary — and deliver them straight to your news reader each time an update is detected. From there, you can choose to click on a hyperlink and read the full article.
What Is a Feed Reader and How Do I Get One?
You may already have a feed reader enabled through your Web browser or you may use a Web-based application like Google Reader™. If not, you can install a “stand-alone” reader (a downloadable application, many are free) to manage your feeds.
Keep in mind that different readers work with different operating systems, so be sure to read the instructions before installing.
Once you have determined your delivery method, simply click on the RSS icon from the ACR Web site (www.acr.org), and then click on the link for the ACR News Feed (located at the bottom of this page). You will then be directed to a page displaying headlines from the latest ACR news.
If you are using a Web browser with embedded RSS capabilities: Click on the link at the top of the page that says “Subscribe to this feed.” A box will appear confirming your selection. Click “Subscribe” and the ACR News Feed will be added to your reader. Each time you check your RSS reader, you will see what has been updated since your last visit.
If you are using a Web-based or stand-alone RSS reader: From the RSS page, point your cursor to the URL and copy the address. Launch your reader and click on the icon that lets you add content or feeds. Paste the URL into the field and the ACR news feed will be added to your reader. Each time you check your RSS reader, you will see what has been updated since your last visit.
