ACR Call on Highmark for Single Interpreter of Cardiac CT and CTA Exams
In a letter to Highmark regarding the insurer’s draft guidelines for Cardiac CT, the ACR states that single qualified physician should be responsible for the supervision and interpretation of cardiac CT and coronary CTA examinations.
The College holds that “split interpretations,” under which radiologists would interpret all cardiac and non-cardiac images with cardiologists providing the over-read of the cardiac images, ensures quality assurance and minimizes risk of filing a false claim.
