Medicare Advantage (formerly Medicare + Choice)
The ACR continues to monitor changes to the Medicare Advantage (MA) program (formerly Medicare + Choice), as outlined in The Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act of 2003 (MMA). The ACR submitted comments to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in response to a proposed rule on the Establishment of the Medicare Advantage Program. In this letter, the ACR commented on the following issues:
- Selection of Local Coverage Determinations (LCDs) on a Regional Basis by Medicare Advantage (MA) Regional Plans;
- Establishment of a Quality Improvement Program by MA Plans;
- Requirement for Consistent Quality Measures Across MA Plans;
- Advance Beneficiary Notice (ABN) Requirements; and
- Establishment of MA Regions.
