Information about the ACR Managed Care Committee and Managed Care Network
I. Managed Care Committee Mission
The Managed Care Committee will address non-Medicare-related issues in order to:
-
Ensure that patients receive high quality and appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic radiological and imaging services in order to optimize their care in a cost-effective manner; and
-
Ensure that radiologists and radiation oncologists are adequately and fairly compensated for their professional services; and
-
Sustain the inevitable growth of diagnostic and therapeutic radiology and imaging in an economically hostile environment.
II. Managed Care Committee Mission Process
-
To determine the needs of American College of Radiology (ACR) members in order to effectively deal with managed care organizations and to develop resources, services and products responsive to those needs; and
-
To evaluate current and potential future trends in payer behavior and philosophy and alert members to those trends as permitted by law; and
-
To educate payers, patients and hospitals as well as other health care providers, about the value of diagnostic and therapeutic radiology in providing cost-effective medical care.
