Local Medicare Policies Under Development in Your State
When a Medicare carrier or contractor develops a new Local Coverage Determination (LCD), or significantly revises an existing LCD, it is required to have a minimum 45-day public comment period. During this time, Contractor Medical Directors (CMDs) solicit input from members of the CAC. Comments can be submitted to the CMD or electronically through your carrier/contractor's website. After the comment period ends and the CMDs have considered all comments received, there must be a 45-day notice period prior to implementation of the final LCD.
If you have questions about the LCD comment process, please contact Stephanie Le at sle@acr.org.
