Coding

The Coding section of the Department of Economics and Health Policy responds to coding questions from the ACR membership through the consensus review process.  This is done by distribution of these requests to C&N committee members in consultation with the subspecialty economics committees as appropriate.  In addition it submits code recommendations (additions/deletions/revisions) to the CPT® Editorial Panel to clarify a number of ambiguities that exist in the current coding manual for diagnostic radiology, radiation oncology and nuclear medicine.  These coding proposals are coordinated with subspecialty economics committees, other specialty societies and industry as required.  The coding section also reviews and comments on the National Correct Coding Initiative edits and other proprietary edits to ensure only appropriate edits are implemented.
