ACR Leadership and Staff Address Possible 2008 Medicare Physician Reimbursement Changes


ACR Economics Commission Vice Chair Bibb Allen, M.D., ACR Senior Director of Economics and Health Policy Pam Kassing, M.S., and ACR Senior Director of Government Relations Josh Cooper recently discussed possible legislative and regulatory changes for 2008 in a Webinar for the Radiology Business Management Association (RBMA).

Among the topics discussed were:

  • The current socioeconomic environment and what the ACR is doing to address critical issues surrounding threats to cuts in imaging payments by Congress and Medicare, including the bundling of imaging services
  • Efforts to avert the conversion factor decrease, and additional cuts targeted at Medicare’s payment for imaging services
  • CMS’ final regulations for 2008 and Hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment System final rules
