Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Certificate of Proficiency?

The ACR Certificate of Proficiency (COP) will support radiologists in addressing requirements for maintenance of certification, as well as the requirements of third-party entities that stipulate demonstrated training.

The courses at the ACR Education Center satisfy the guidelines developed for radiologists. Completion of our courses will meet the ACR Guideline for performing and interpreting CTA and CTC.

What is the “case engine”?

The case engine, the ACR’s proprietary learning methodology, is designed to measure a learner’s performance as a series of cases is completed. Built on an unparalleled repository of cases, the ACR case engine navigates learners through the curriculum of cases and ensures mastery of the learning criteria before learners move to the next topic.

The vendors available for the Coronary CT Angiography course include Barco Voxar 3D, GE, Philips, Siemens, Terarecon, Visage Imaging, and Vital Images.

What version of the vendor’s software is being used in the Center?

The software version that is being used depends on the vendor. We encourage vendors to send us the most recent release of their software, giving them an opportunity to showcase their most sophisticated software option.

Do I have to share a workstation?

No. Each student reviews cases on his or her own workstation.

What are the requirements for taking courses?

Each participant must be familiar with the workstation before attending a course. A refresher session on vendor workstations will be offered the evening before a course starts.

How many cases will I complete in the Coronary CTA course?

Because the courses are designed to be self-paced, the number of cases completed vary by student. The Center will be open before each course starts and during the evening, which allows students to review additional cases on their own time.

Is the Coronary CTA course equivalent to ACC Level II certification?

We do not provide any comparison to other organizations or entities.

The courses at the ACR Education Center satisfy the guidelines developed for radiologists. Completion of our courses will meet the ACR Guideline for performing and interpreting CTA and CTC.

Will the Coronary CTA and CTC courses also be held on future dates?

Yes. The Coronary CTA and CTC courses will be held at least twice more in the second half of 2008.

Will technical support be available on-site?

Yes. Each vendor will provide technical support during each course. Additionally, the Center will provide full-time technical support on-site.
